BodallaJust south of Moruya, where the Tuross River winds back into lush dairy country you'll find the pretty, historic village of Bodalla.Dairy farming and cheese making were introduced to the area during the 1860s and Bodalla's European history is dominated by the activities of its large farming community. The local Mexican restaurant, Malibu Mex at Bodalla is an institution, offering locals and visitors a nice change from the coastal seafood fare. Just off the highway on Potato Point Road,South Coast Cheese offer a premium selection of cheeses, ideal to pick up on the way to picnic at Potato Point. Around BodallaNearby Eurobodalla National Park offeres plenty to explore and the seaside village of Potato Point is just down the road. A few kilomteres north of Bodalla you can visit Trunkatabella Gardens and nursery for a walk through the Belllbird forest , spectacular rose gardens and devonshire tea.. Drive along the Nerrigundah Mountain Road to Nerrigundah, a former gold-mining town, which was held up by bushrangers in 1866. All Saints ChurchBodalla's most famous landmark is the All Saints Church which stands as a memorial to Thomas Sutcliffe Mort, who purchased 13,000 acres of land in the district and was a pioneer of Australian dairying through the creation of Bodalla Estate. Mort died in 1878. The church, built in 1880 and designed by architect Edmund Blacket in the Victorian Academic Gothic Style, was constructed from grey granite quarried in the area. It features a great tower and spire, a large rose window, oak woodwork and finishings and a pipe organ from England. Builder, Joseph Zeigler, used granite, quarried from the estate and oak for the interior fittings. The pipe organ was imported from england. All Saints was opened in 1881 and is open each day for visitors. It is the principal church of the parish of Bodalla and Narooma. The exquisite stained glass windows are well worth a look.. Cattle was introduced in the 1830s, and halfway through the century, Thomas Mort, an enterprising rural entrepreneur, shaped the community as a model of land usage.
